Waterkeepers Florida at PIEC

February 7, 2020–Waterkeepers Florida, now a regional entity working collaboratively on state policy issues related to water quality and water quantity, was well represented in Gainesville for the 26th Annual Public Interest Environmental Conference (PIEC) at the University of Florida’s Law School. Riverkeeper Georgia Ackerman participated on a panel discussion providing updates on threats to the Apalachicola River watershed. This includes oil & gas exploratory drilling and decline in freshwater flow from upstream.

Waterkeepers Florida also had held their annual meeting this week during PIEC. There are 14 independent Waterkeeper groups in the states.
