Tallahassee Movie Night with Sierra Club

January 10, 2019

The Big Bend Sierra Club hosted a screening of the documentary, Stories from the Apalachicola, an Endangered River, in Tallahassee. It was standing room only with over 100 people in attendance. A panel discussion with film producers, Aleks Iricanin and Samantha Simons, executive producer, Dr. Andy Opel and riverkeeper, Georgia Ackerman followed the documentary.

The panelists responded to questions related to the current U.S. Supreme Court case, future screenings of the film, the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint stakeholders group along with various watershed ecology related discussion. The film evolved from the 2017 Apalachicola River Project, an interdisciplinary program at FSU.  One component of the project included eco-educational field trips for more than 125 students in the spring 2017 semester.  The Big Bend Sierra Club, Tall Timbers and Apalachicola Riverkeeper partnered to provide volunteer trip leaders.

The film can be streamed HERE.
