For the 51st anniversary of Earth Day on April 22, 2021, about 15 dedicated Apalachicola Riverkeeper volunteers showed up to collect more than two pickup truck loads of trash around the Mill Pond area in Apalachicola and a few folks continued the effort at Battery Park. Items collected included a rusty can of gasoline, a container of used motor oil, old mattresses, hoses and a large rusted pulley. Our waterfronts and waters are cleaner as a result. While Earth Day is a time to celebrate and promote environmental efforts, an underlying message has always been to make Earth Day every day!
