RiverTrek in Two Phases

Since Mother Nature threw us a late curve ball with Hurricane Delta promising inclement weather, RiverTrek 2020 is being done in two phases. The first was a two-day paddle October 6 and 7 as planned from Chattahoochee to Estiffanulga. The send-off from Chattahoochee went smoothly as the RiverTrekkers were greeted by Chattahoochee City Manager Robert Presnell and editor Ashley Hunter of the Chattahoochee News-Herald. Florida Park Service biologist Mark Ludlow spoke to the group at Aspalaga Landing about the history and ecology of the Torreya Park region while herpetologist Pierson Hill educated the group at Estiffanulga about reptiles found in the Apalachicola Basin.

Phase two of RiverTrek, covering the stretch from Estiffanulga to Apalachicola, will occur November 6-8. Here are some photos of the first two days. Make sure to check Apalachicola Riverkeeper’s Facebook and Instagram pages when Phase II begins.
