Spring Fellowships at Apalachicola Riverkeeper

If you are an FSU student or know an FSU student, Apalachicola Riverkeeper is offering two great spring 2021 fellowship project opportunities! As a Sustainability Fellow, students will be able to get involved in real-world sustainability research and community outreach projects while earning experiential recognition credit.

The application is open from October 12 – October 30, and informational sessions will be held on October 19 and October 22 at 6pm via Zoom. Register today!  Click here for more information and to apply.

Here are the two projects:

  • ArcGIS Story Maps for Apalachicola Basin Trails

Many of the paddling and hiking trails in the Apalachicola Basin are scenic and unique, but also remote and not familiar to the majority of people. This project will develop a GIS StoryMaps to provide more visual information so people will feel less intimidated to venture on unfamiliar paddling and hiking trails.

*Fieldwork is required. Prior experience with kayaking is preferred. Students must be able to provide transportation, GPS units, and cameras. Ideal for students taking GIS, Urban and Regional Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Environment & Society.

  • Marketing Videos for Apalachicola Basin Trails

Short videos can help people appreciate the beauty and biodiversity of the Apalachicola Basin, which brings about greater stewardship. This project will create short videos for select paddling and hiking trails, which will be distributed on social media and shown via an online (and/or in-person) premiere.

*Fieldwork is required. Prior experience with kayaking is preferred. Students must be able to provide transportation, video equipment, and editing software. Ideal for students in Digital Media Production, Media/Communication Studies, Motion Picture Arts, Environment & Society.
