Athena kicks off EarthMonth with Clean Up

April 7, 2019

Chattahoochee, FL– Athena Salon & Spa kicked off April Earth Month with a power-packed park and boat ramp clean up at Hopkins Landing on Sunday morning. The team of stylists and family members, including salon owner Mary Rolling, swiftly filled numerous trash bags with debris from the river banks and adjacent park. In fact, the clean up took half the time originally scheduled.

Aveda salons worldwide raise funds both locally and internationally for clean water-oriented organizations. Apalachicola Riverkeeper has partnered with regional salons for several years in effort to bring further attention to the challenges facing the Apalachicola River and Bay.

Mary Rolling, Athena owner of over two decades, has been an active, steadfast supporter of Aveda EarthMonth and Apalachicola Riverkeeper. Last year the salon raised several thousand dollars in support of education and outreach efforts of Apalachicola Riverkeeper. Georgia Ackerman, Riverkeeper and Executive Director, said, “The Athena team did an incredible job. By swiftly hauling off over 150 lbs. of plastic, metal and glass debris, they’ve protected the soil and water from pollution–something that hurts wildlife and humans. We were proud to work with them today.”

Athena’s fundraiser supporting Apalachicola Riverkeeper, as part of Aveda Month Month will continue through April 30. You can support their efforts HERE or stop in at their Tallahassee location.
