The weather was perfect for our walk on the Gap Point Trail at St. George Island on Saturday, April 15. The sun was bright and warm with a pleasant breeze off the Gulf. The trail winds through a mixture of slash pine, many marked with “catfaces” or the scars of past turpentine harvests as well as areas of coastal scrub and small freshwater marshes. We has a small group that included a few experts on native plants as well so everyone learned a lot on the relatively short walk. Our next outing will be a paddle on Graham Creek on Sunday, April 13. Spaces are limited so sign up today!
