Sediment Sampling at Lake Seminole

October 7, 2021

This month at various points around Lake Seminole where the Flint and Chattahoochee Rivers converge above the Woodruff Dam, we took a series of soil and water samples. This will help to identify unique properties flowing into the Apalachicola River main channel riverbed. The aim is to compare the results with those collected in sediment samples taken further downstream and eventually build a stronger understanding of regional erosion and the rate of sediment deposition along the Apalachicola River, connecting  tributaries, and sloughs.

Lauren Williams is a graduate student at the University of Florida. She’s a team member of Apalachicola Riverkeeper’s Slough Restoration Project.
