Ice Cream Social and RiverTrek 2018 Kickoff

A large crowd of Apalachicola Riverkeeper volunteers and Tallahassee area members came out on Sunday afternoon to meet the RiverTrek 2018 Team and support the Riverkeeper organization.  Attendees enjoyed ice cream and listened to the music of Below the Dam Band who played and sang under the oak trees at Goodwood Museum.  Special thanks to Craig Diamond, Elizabeth Suber, Diane Jacobs, Tom Jacobs, Debbie Tinter-Dietrich and Frank Dietrich for providing this music in support of Apalachicola Riverkeeper and the 2018 RiverTrek Team.

Riverkeeper and Executive Director, Georgia Ackerman, shared her comments with the crowd, noting that the organization is celebrating 20 years of working to protect Apalachicola River and Bay.   Apalachicola Riverkeeper was founded in 1998.  Following her remarks, Georgia introduced Tommy Thompson, RiverTrek Coordinator, who asked River Trekkers to share one reason why they were making the trip this year.  The 2018 RiverTrek will take place October 9 – 13.
