Become a member of the Apalachicola Riverkeeper (or to renew your membership) and to help protect our River and Bay and keep them safe and healthy for people, fish and wildlife, now and for future generations.
The Threats
The Apalachicola Riverkeeper has identified four priority and inter-related threats to the clean water, ecological productivity, biological diversity, and economy of our Basin:
- Reduction of Life-Sustaining Freshwater
- Loss of Floodplain Habitat
- Point and Non-Point Source Pollution
- Explosive Growth and Development
Endangered or potentially endangered species such as the Atlanta sturgeon, blue stripped shiner, shoal bass and Suwannee bass are found in the Apalachicola River basin.
