The freshwater flowing down the Apalachicola River to Apalachicola Bay is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This year, the Corps is updating their Water Control Manual – their operational guide for managing the flow. The changes the Corps is currently proposing in their Water Control Manual will further endanger Apalachicola Bay!
We must urge the Corps to go back to the drawing board to develop a plan that adheres as closely as possible to the natural amount, timing and variability of flows to the Apalachicola and Chattahoochee Rivers.
