“The Apalachicola River is one of the most beautiful streams of North America, formed at the northern border of Florida by the junction of the Chattahoutchie and the Flint River; it crosses, making quite numerous turns, a region of great fertility, and empties near the town of Apalachicola.” The Comte de Castelnau, 1837 |

The Apalachicola River has its headwaters at Amicalola Falls in North Georgia. The Chattahoochee River flows through North Georgia and joins the Flint River from Eastern Georgia to form the Apalachicola River at Lake Seminole. The Apalachicola River then flows 107 miles to Apalachicola Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. (Download PDF of entire Apalachicola River HERE)
